Position Summary The Administrative Director of Research will oversee all administrative and operational functions of research in the Department of OB/GYN. Responsibilities 1) Strategic Long-term Planning 2) Development and Monitoring of Annual Budgets 3) Fiscal Oversight of Research 4) Development and Oversight of Quality Improvement Activities 5) Management of Personnel Resources 6) Liaison with Government and Industry Sponsors 7) Oversight of all pre-award and Post-Award Research Administration 8) Development of Policies and Procedures to Assure Regulatory Compliance in the Conduct of both Clinical and Basic Science Research. Through the above functions, the Administrative Director of Research in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology will insure the efficient and cost effective administration and acquisition of grants and contracts in compliance with internal and external policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Requires a bachelor degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus five years of related experience. Experience in research administration is required, preferably in an academic environment. Must possess a detailed knowledge of research funding, preparation of grant applications, budget planning, competitive peer review funding system, site visit process, personal knowledge and contact with the bureaucracy in federal funding agencies at a national level, a thorough understanding of research administration that includes financial operations in research organizations, regulatory affairs, strategic and business planning and management of information systems. Must demonstrate leadership ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of others. Ability to set priorities, solve problems and exercise sound judgment and initiative is required. Ability to interact with a broad spectrum of people, be highly organized, work independently as well as a member of a team, meet deadlines and multi-task is essential. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately in a pleasant, courteous manner with both internal and external contacts is necessary. Excellent oral/written communication, organizational, analytical, adaptable, creative, detail oriented and computer (e.g. Microsoft Office including excel and PowerPoint) skills required.
