Hospital Compliance Analyst - 2100237
Position Summary
The Stony Brook University Hospital (SBUH) Compliance Analyst performs audits and monitoring of hospital compliance risk areas: determining compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and regulations. Identifies and recommends strategies for process improvement. Prepares written reports on findings. Maintains an up-to-date working knowledge on regulatory requirements associated with an academic medical center acute care hospital. The incumbent will participate in all aspects of SBUH s Compliance Program.
Duties may include the following but are not limited to:
- In consultation with the Director of Hospital Compliance and/or the Chief Compliance Officer, develop audit programs, determining the scope of work and depth and breadth of testing needed to conduct audits of hospital compliance risk areas. Plan and organize work assignments to complete projects in an efficient manner. Produce high-quality work that is competently and efficiently performed in accordance with department standards. Prepare comprehensive reports, making recommendations to correct deficiencies and improve documentation and coding practices.
- Monitor to identify patterns, trends and variances during and from audits. Develop reports from the audit results and/or other sources and assess the need for further review or intervention.
- Conduct follow-up audits as necessary to appraise the adequacy of corrective actions and determine whether deficiencies are corrected; prepare the appropriate report for management.
- Collaborate with and assist the OCAS colleagues on projects as needed. Research and provide guidance on regulations and policies and procedures as requested,
- Participate in the design and implementation of a risk based annual compliance audit work plan incorporating governmental and other agency regulations, internal Compliance Program requirements, and operational policies and procedures. Prepare and present quarterly and year-end reports of incumbent's work plan projects to the Director of Hospital Compliance. Collaborate with the Office of Compliance and Audit Service colleagues on projects as needed.
- Perform other duties and special projects as directed. Maintain professional skills and knowledge through attendance at relevant conferences, seminars and other educational programs; participate in professional organizations; and review of current literature.
Qualifications
Required :
- Bachelor's degree required.
- 1-3 years of experience performing health care audits required.
- The incumbent will be performing reviews of other professionals and interacting with Management and other leaders.
Preferred :
- Hospital Audit experience preferred as well as Certification in Health Care Compliance or Graduate Certificate in Health Care Compliance.
- Knowledge of Federal and New York State rules and regulations applicable to hospitals.
