The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for assisting the Superintendent in the operation of the Golf Course Maintenance Department to ensure the healthy growth of the golf course & clubhouse grounds grasses, trees, wetlands, and other plant materials. The duties include turfgrass/plant material maintenance programs, staff scheduling and supervision, property/asset management, assisting with forecasting/expense management, scheduling and maintenance of irrigation systems, pesticide applications and hand watering bentgrass greens in the Transition Zone.
Participate in the hiring, training and developing all staff
Ensure the staff is working within OSHA, club safety, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions
Perform Pesticide and Fertilizer applications
Water management on bentgrass/poa greens
Assist the Superintendent in all facets of golf course maintenance
1-2 years experience in Golf Course Maintenance
Min 2-year College Agronomy Degree preferred
MD Pesticide Applicators License or able to obtain one in 60 days
Knowledge of regulatory requirements and recordkeeping as required by local, state and federal laws
Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with Members, Employee Partners and guests
About Hunt Valley Country Club
Hunt Valley is one of Baltimore's Premier Private Golf and Lifestyle Clubs and celebrated its 50 year anniversary in 2020. Hunt Valley currently has 18 holes of challenging golf with an additional 9 holes ready to be renovated to bring it back to the original 27 hole design. Better Billy Bunkers were installed in 2016, the Greens are Bent/Poa Mix and the Fairways are bent/poa/Rye.
In 2021 the golf course plans to implement programs to convert the Greens to 007 Bentgrass as well as the Fairways. There are also Plans to do an in house renovation of the "Ridge 9" to bring it back to golfing conditions. Qualified applicants will have the ability to directly oversee and participate in these projects and have the opportunity to be a key player in a Hunt Valleys restoration.
Hunt Valley Country Club is looking for a motivated, hard working individual who can lead the crew and learn how to be a Superintendent. Qualified applicants will be asked to oversee all of the day to day operations, budgeting, record keeping and renovations projects with the superintendents supervision. Hunt Valley is in the process of rejuvenating the Golf Course to restore it to previous standards.
