Description Assistant/Associate/Full Professor Clinical Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Director West Virginia University (WVU) School of Medicine, Department of Pathology, Anatomy, and Laboratory Medicine (PALM), located in Morgantown, WV, seeks an academically oriented doctoral level scientist, non-tenure track, to serve as the Clinical Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory Technical Director for appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. This position is responsible for operations of the WVU Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory, a state-of-the-art facility that is the central molecular diagnostic laboratory for the WVU Health System. Dedicated technical staff perform both conventional and advanced molecular diagnostic assays. Duties: This position will play a key role in leading change and innovation by developing and validating new tests, including NGS assays, to support the clinical care of WVU Medicine patients and outreach clients. This position is responsible for providing management and regulatory oversight of technical operations, which includes oversight of quality control, competency assessment, proficiency testing, and instruments maintenance. Depending on the training and experience of the candidate, the position may also have clinical responsibilities in the WVU Cytogenetics Laboratory to include reviewing and preparing reports for cytogenetic cases (e.g., karyotypes, FISH and microarray studies). Educational responsibilities include on-going teaching of residents, medical students, fellows and other students as appropriate.
