Position Summary

The Clinical Research Core in the Department of Surgery is seeking an individual for the position of Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) who will report directly to the Pediatric Cardiology Principal Investigator and the Associate Director of Clinical Trials. For this full-time position, we seek a person with strong organizational, multi-tasking, time management, communication, and team skills to join our team in the assessment of outcomes, value of care, and health inequities for children with congenital heart disease.

The position is responsible for collaborating with Principal Investigator (PI) and her team as well as working independently to coordinate clinical research studies and trails. 

We are particularly looking for a person passionate about making the health system work more efficiently and effectively for children and in growing as a member of our team.  Recent projects include assessing the effects of socioeconomic disparities on outcomes and resource utilization for children undergoing congenital heart surgery, examining the effects of surgeon age/experience on patient outcomes, and a series of investigations on the effects of COVID-19 on patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• 1. Working directly with the PI and other team members to prioritize day-to-day study operations and direct investigations.
  2. Identifying potential study participants
  3. Screening potential participants to determine eligibility
  4. Randomizing participants
  5. Completing case report forms
  6. Assisting with scheduling of tests and appointments
  7. Managing data collection and submission and maintaining relevant databases; consulting medical records as necessary to obtain pertinent data
  8. Collecting, processing, and shipping protocol specimens
  9. Preparing/monitoring study budgets and regulatory documents for IRB submissions, data use agreements, and contracting
  10. Directing communications with patients and collaborators
  11. Assisting with grant and manuscript writing

  *No prior knowledge of congenital heart disease is required, but a desire learn and to join a team aimed at improving quality and value of care for children with complex chronic conditions is a must.* 

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum education:

   Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience

  Minimum related experience:

  Two years of related experience

   

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with statistical analysis programs (ie. SAS, SPSS, STATA) is preferred.

Other Requirements

• Working knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word and Excel is required.
• Experience with statistical analysis programs (ie. SAS, SPSS, STATA) .
• Intermediate MS Office skills.
• Must be able to successfully complete systems training requirements.
