The primary objective of this position is to work collaboratively with other research, clinic, and hospital staff to provide services as assigned in furtherance of the universitys missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service. This position will support the Division ofCardiothoracic Surgery in standardizing clinical protocols, analyzing clinical outcomes data, writing IRB protocols and supporting protocols through the IRB approval process. The Clinical Research Coordinator provides monitoring and clinical expertise to ensure protocol adherence and accurate study data capture.
Clinical Responsibilities: Oversees and assists in providing the highest standard of care for subjects involved in research in the Division of Pediatric Surgery at OHSU.
Identifies potential study subjects, initiates protocol screening and verifies eligibility for study enrollment. Participates in the informed consent process by providing detailed subject and family information of the appropriate protocol.
Reports adverse events in a timely fashion as required by specific research study, OHSU policy and federal regulations.
Participates in review of study protocols, in collaboration with principal investigator and other study staff members, to determine study feasibility.
Provides appropriate documentation of study encounters.
IRB Management: Preparation and submission of all study related IRB regulatory documents. Must be available to attend IRB meetings as needed.
Data Management: Accurate, efficient, data accrual and documentation, including developing databases for the Divisions ongoing research needs.
Coordination Responsibilities: Attend study initiation meetings and monitor visits as needed.
Customer Service: Provide highest level of customer service to both external customers (patients and their families, referring providers, sponsors, etc.) and internal customers (OHSU and Legacy providers and staff) that meets or exceeds the service standards of the health care industry. This duty includes prompt and professional communication efforts, face-to-face customer contact skills, familiarity with available information technology, standard complaint processing, flexible coverage of internal service needs and the continuous application of process improvement methods and skills. Must be available to attend faculty meetings as needed.
Bachelor's Degreewith major courses in field of research and 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
Research certification (SoCRA, ACRP)
