Job Summary
Under general supervision of a pharmacist, performs pharmacy-related functions to provide optimal pharmaceutical care, including managing inventory duties, processing return to stocks and working the unsold/dead drug report, compounding, and preparing and dispensing medications.Serves as a mentor of pharmacy technician staff in the tasks listed above.Serves as a role model to the pharmacy technician staff regarding the principles of good customer service and cost-effective workflows. Responsibilities
*Maintains appropriate inventory management (may include) oPrepares inventories, orders drugs and supplies, receives drugs and stocks shelves in various pharmacy locations. oRestocks and delivers drugs and related supplies to patient care areas or clinics, as assigned, including automated dispensing machines. oLogs drug receipts appropriately. oMaintains stock in accordance with manufacturers' requirements and that which is most cost efficient. oManages low stock levels. oAssists with inventory maintenance and control, including auditing and record keeping. oRestocks medications in automated dispensing cabinets or other secure locations as applicable. oWorks return to stocks and unsold report. *Prepares medications (sterile and non-sterile) appropriately (may include) oFills patient medications cassettes and completes appropriate documentation. oPre-packs bulk medications and completes appropriate documentation. oCompounds ointments, creams, oral solutions, and other medications. oPrepares chemotherapeutic agents. oCompounds total parenteral nutrition solutions as applicable. oCompounds large-volume intravenous mixtures as applicable. oPacks and prepares medications being used in clinical investigations. oFills patient specific medications. *Enhances personal and coworkers' professional growth and development oCompletes and meets the competency standards including education and training that is specific to the patient populations and practice site served.Keeps job knowledge current. oAssists in the training of pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, pharmacy residents, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy students as applicable. oAttends and participates in departmental meetings, in-services, huddles, and departmental trainings as applicable. oMaintains continuing education requirements for PTCB certification or maintains a pharmacy intern license in good standing. *Interacts with appropriate healthcare staff and patients to identify, clarify and fill orders for pharmaceutical needs, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist. oAssists in entering medication orders into the computer system when applicable. oCompletes paperwork needed to track usage, outdated goods, billing, and shortages. oCoordinates insurance billing including third party prescriptions when applicable. oHandles and triages telephone/window inquiries. oAssists with charging and crediting medication returns. oAssists with the medication reconciliation process. *Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement, environmental and infection control standards, and adheres to regulatory requirements. oComplies with established departmental and DHHA policies and procedures, code of conduct, quality improvement, infection control, and safety initiatives. oMaintains secure storage and records of all medications. oMaintains medications in accordance with manufacturer's requirements. oComplies and assists with adherence to regulatory requirements (State, Board, Joint Commission, CMS, etc.) *Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
*Ability to work as a team member. *Attention to detail. Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures. *Knowledge of medication and medical supplies.Knowledge of record-keeping techniques. *Mathematical computations skills. *Knowledge of sterile and non-sterile compounding. *Organization and communication skills. *Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills. *Ability to maintain adequate inventory/supplies.
Computers and Technology *Proficient in MS Office Suite *Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills. Education * High School Diploma or GED (Required) * Completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.* Mandatory one year of pharmacy experience within the Denver Health Ambulatory Pharmacy Department

Credentials * PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician (Required) Pharmacy Technician Certification with Colorado SBOP is required. Location Shift Work Type Pay Range Minimum: 19.08 Midpoint: 23.85 Maximum: 28.62 All job applicants for safety-sensitive positions must pass a pre-employment drug test, once a conditional offer of employment has been made.
