Position Summary:

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Quality Improvement Senior Analyst (QISA) for the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED). As part of ORED, the Quality Improvement Senior Analyst (QISA) provides a high level of administrative services within the Rutgers’ Campuses. This position provides post-approval monitoring and internal oversight, education and training to the research community to assure that all HSPP operations effectively support the University's mission to protect the rights and welfare of research participants.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Completes simple and detailed auditing of human subjects projects independently involving all aspects of a research study (e.g., from inception to completion, and involving all stakeholders on any campus or University-related research site).
  • Ensures compliance with institutional policies and procedures, and applicable federal, state and local laws pertaining to the protection of human subjects in research and promotes beneficial research practices and customs.
  • Prepares and presents audit reports to the IRB's and/or University leadership or stakeholders as needed.
  • Routinely conducts internal audits of IRB and staff and relevant records.
  • Advises IRB, ORED, and UEC and other related staff on regulatory and quality assurance and improvement questions and issues.
  • Conducts training sessions to inform IRB Staff and Rutgers study coordinators and investigators of new guidelines/trends impacting the industry.
  • Disseminates information on regulatory requirements, policies and procedures regarding IRB operation to faculty and staff
  • Provides support services for the monitoring of the effectiveness of Rutgers' Human Subject Protections Program.

    Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a research setting.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of closely related professional experience.

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of IRB practices and processes.
  • Demonstrated verbal and writing skills as well as office computing skills.
  • Ability to interpret and produce statistical, audit, qualitative, and regulatory reports.
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • Three (3) years of research experience particularly in a social-behavioral or qualitative research setting.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Office environment.
  • Regular travel predominantly within the state of NJ to complete audits.
