Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Part Time Student Assistant for the Cancer Health Equity and Engagement department at Rutgers, Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ).
The Student Assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Kelly Kohler (Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and School of Public Health). The Student Assistant will assist Dr. Kohler with research projects on HPV-related cancer prevention and control with an emphasis on Spanish-speaking populations.
This is a per diem grant-funded position. The research projects include developing and testing education interventions for adolescent HPV vaccination and follow-up care after cervical cancer screening. Virtual and local data collection includes study sites in Middlesex, Essex, and Hudson counties.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Be highly motivated to obtain knowledge on HPV and project-related research topics.
Assist with translation of data collection tools, participant recruitment and education materials, and regulatory documents for IRB submission.
Participate in phone, electronic, and in-person communications and meetings with study staff, health clinic contacts, health care professionals, and community organizations to support the development and improvement of programs as COVID safety precautions allow.
Assist with project activities. as needed, including participant recruitment, consent, scheduling, interviewing participants off-site or online to collect quantitative and qualitative data as COVID safety precautions allow.
Support community sensitization, recruitment, and dissemination of research through presentations, social media, and community events.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Must be a current Rutgers student with qualitative data collection skills and appropriate training in public health, sociology, psychology, or education.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Possess efficient organizational, communication (oral and written), and problem-solving skills.
Fluent in English and Spanish.
Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Experience with community organizing, health education, or human subjects research.
Interest in women's reproductive health or cancer control.
