Responsible for all aspects of research projects. Plans, obtains funding for, and conducts computational social science and social science research; participates in, facilitates, and monitors daily activities of research projects.
Applies research principles and relevant subject matter knowledge to plan, obtain funding for, and execute research projects.Â
Oversees all aspects of management, scientific technological development, and operations for research projects. Supports data collection and analytical needs of research projects.Â
Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates. Conducts literature reviews and writes articles, reports and other manuscripts.
Presents research findings at meetings and/or conferences.
Capable of independent, self-motivated work and working with a team.
Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research.
Creates first drafts for scientific writing and publications, including protocols and grants.
Trains and mentors laboratory personnel.
Performs other related work as needed.
PhD in Social Science
At least a decade of demonstrated experience obtaining substantial research grants, executing substantial research projects, and academic publishing.
Must be familiar with deep learning and other machine learning techniques, particularly as used in natural language understanding, and apply these to a range of topics of interest to the Knowledge Lab.
These topics can include analysis of science, public understanding of science, social systems modeling, and idea systems.
Must have ideas for multiple grant funded research proposals.
