H-S Pharmacy Practice Administration, H-S Pharmacy Practice Administration/M.S., Hospital/Institutional
Specialty Practice Areas:
Management/Leadership, Pharmacy Practice
This 24-month program combines an M.S. degree in Health-System Pharmacy Administration from The Ohio State University with a combined residency in PGY1 Pharmacy/PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration from Comprehensive Pharmacy Services (CPS), Inc. (formerly Pharmacy Systems, Inc.). Graduates of this program will be trained and prepared to assume managerial and director level positions within the acute-care health-system environment. During their first year, residents will be exposed to several clinical, ambulatory, quality, leadership, management, and medication-use evaluation experiences. In their second year, residents will complete required management and selected clinical and elective rotations. Our unique practice model will not only encourage the resident to extend beyond the acute care hospital environment, but also serve as a leader within, health-systems, hospital corporations, specialty hospitals, and the profession as they become immersed in the CPS experience and culture. We believe our long-standing experience and network opportunities combined with the alumni network of The Ohio State University will provide exceptional leadership opportunities that will extend far into the future of a graduate resident's career.
On September 1, 2017, Comprehensive Pharmacy Services, LLC. acquired Pharmacy Systems, Inc., together providing the largest pharmacy entity of its kind in the nation. Together, the merged companies control nearly $3 billion in U.S. drug spend for 800+ client facilities while driving financial, clinical, regulatory and operational performance.
Since it's founding, the company has firmly established itself as the leader in pharmacy management, helping its clients realize sustainable, improved quality and reduced cost. CPS services are tailored to the needs of each client, and include pharmacy consulting, inpatient and outpatient pharmacy management, tele-pharmacy and transitions of care services. CPS helps hospital pharmacists tackle complex problems such as medication reconciliation, hyper-inflated drug costs, standardization, centralized distribution, regulatory and compliance, and 340B programs leading to increased quality, reduced admissions, and lowered costs. Our clients include acute care hospitals, health-systems, hospital corporations, and specialty hospitals – such as orthopedic, surgical, long-term acute care and rehabilitation.
All acceptance requirements should be submitted through the PhORCAS website. Upon submission, applications will be reviewed and candidates will be selected for on-site interviews. After the interviews are completed, a rank list will be submitted to ASHP via the National Matching Service.
Prospective candidates must also apply through The Ohio State University graduate school to the MS portion of the program. More information can be found here: MS/HSPA-L Application
