Under the direction of the VP of Business Systems, the Business Applications Specialist will be responsible for daily operation and trouble-shooting of business systems within Secure Transfusion Services (STS) and between STS and our partners and customers in the blood supply chain, including a variety of vendors in the blood management space that each have unique and sophisticated software systems. This position ensures the reliability and security of the systems with their span of control.

Coordinates business and quality application project timelines, tasks, and resources.
Collaborates effectively with vendor and customer IT professionals.
Ability to deeply understand multiple vendor systems in order to work within the systems without needing vendor support.
Anticipates, mitigates, identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves system issues and escalates incidents as necessary and finetunes for performance.
Moves quickly to adjust, test and operationalize new systems when regulatory agencies change policies or initiate new requirements.
Ensures the integrity and security of system data in accordance with business needs and industry best-practices regarding privacy, security and regulatory compliance.
Ability to work weekends or after hours when required for system updates and emergencies.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.
Three years of technical experience.
Experience with medical systems administration, preferably with blood centers, a must.
Experience working remotely.
Code writing experience a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Designations:
PMI Project Management; CAPM or PMP preferred
IIBA Business Analyst; CBAP preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Passionate about technical work and happy to spend all day at a computer
Knowledge of principles, practices and procedures required to maintain and integrate database, web and core business application systems
A basic understanding of network issues and their relation to application and database functions
Utility software support tools such as editors, forms design and database query languages
Skill in Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
Ability to engage partners (vendors, customers, colleagues) with patience and clear communication

Required to regularly stand, use hands, reach with arm, and talk and hear. Frequently required to sit, stoop, crouch, kneel. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
