PGY2 Pediatric Specialty Resident
Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital
The PGY2 Pediatric Specialty Residency at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital is a 12-month, ASHP accredited program designed to foster the development of the clinical knowledge, research skills and leadership experience necessary to provide comprehensive and high quality pharmaceutical care to pediatric patients. Pharmacists completing this program will have made great strides at earning professional credibility and be capable of functioning with a high level of maturity, professionalism, and expertise in their chosen pediatric pharmacy career path. Required rotations include General Pediatrics, Infectious Diseases, Neonatal Intensive Care, Critical Care, and Hematology/Oncology. Elective rotations are available in a variety of subspecialty areas and tailored to fit the strengths and interests of the resident. In addition, residents complete a formal, longitudinal research curriculum culminating in a medication use evaluation (MUE) and formal project, both suitable for presentation at a national pharmacy meeting and publication submission. Residents also participate in hospital committees and work groups, formal and informal case presentations, journal clubs, healthcare team inservices, medication safety and regulatory activities, the cystic fibrosis consult service, discharge teaching and the Medical Emergency Team. Opportunities also exist for both clinical and didactic teaching. The resident is required to provide service time every fourth weekend.
