ESG at Capital Group
Since our founding in 1931, Capital Group has placed an emphasis on deep research often including close relationships with the companies in our portfolios. Our investors study the companies themselves, as well as the industries and the economic environment in which they operate. In order to find the best investments, we must understand the detailed operating aspects of each company as well as the external issues such as social forces, politics, and economics that can affect its prospects. Our fundamental research is better thanks to access to corporate officers. That, combined with our macroeconomic and policy analysis, enable us to identify enduring investment opportunities which can grow across multiple market cycles. The core of our expertise is our ability to identify and support sustainable growth.
Investors around the world are increasingly focused on ESG as part of their investment philosophy, and Capital Group recognizes a unique opportunity to deepen the integration of ESG perspectives into our fundamental research. Our strategy is to systematically incorporate ESG information and research tools into the investment process, consistently communicate to clients our ESG perspectives, and to enable delivery of ESG as a product. Over time, we will increase our voice in the industry with thought leadership on ESG processes, investment approaches and methods for investing sustainably.
