The Department of Radiology / Diagnostic at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Medical Radiography Assistant Director. The successful candidate will: - Supervise and perform duties directly involved with a variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment and initiative in the utilization of Diagnostic Imaging equipment. - Ensure that all standard of care are met for our patient population. - Ensure standards for all regulatory agencies such Joint Commission and NY Department of Health are met. - Provide area assignments of personnel and coordinate activities within the department, with other departmental activities and services of the hospital. - Responsible for the procurement and storage of supplies. - Responsible for providing statistical information to determine work patterns, patient flow, budgetary information and fiscal requirements. - Provide good customer service to our patient population and co-workers. - Must become fully knowledgeable of departmental policies and procedures including quality assurance and performance improvement. Developing and introducing new techniques and procedures. Monitoring and enhancing the program for QC and QA standards. - Provide supervisory oversight for all imaging modalities in radiology for the weekend. - Ability to provide resolution for various operational issues in radiology and to communicate such with different levels of hospital personnel. - Perform diagnostic imaging procedures at a technical level, which includes obtaining pertinent clinical and medical history of patients. - Must demonstrate knowledge in the effects of radiation exposure, radiation procedures, computer applications and imaging techniques. - Responsible for safety precautions for patients and workers in regards to radiation exposure. - Assist in training student technologist and medical students rotating through the department. - Assist in orientation and implementation of new techniques, research projects and in-service education as directed. - Assist with radiology performance improvement projects to include data collections. - All departmental related duties and responsibilities. - Ability to utilize computerized patient information systems, including Radiology Information System and PACS. - Burning of CD's and DVD's when necessary. - On-call, holiday and emergency coverage as needed. (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE ABOVE POSITION DESCRIPTION) QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: - New York State X-Ray license required. ARRT certified. - A minimum of 3 years hospital based experience in Diagnostic Radiology. PREFERRED: - A minimum of 2 years supervisory experience. - Bachelor's Degree. - Experience in CT or MRI procedures.
