Under the general supervision of the ICTS Laboratory Directors, the Laboratory Assistant must be comfortable working with human samples and be responsible for supporting clinical trials including but not limited to the following tasks: 1) processing human samples, catalogue and enter tissue samples into ICTS databases. 2) prepare clinical trial samples for shipping to central or university laboratories 3) help clinical coordinators process samples for storage and distribution. Specific duties include collecting samples in Douglas Hospital or accepting human samples in ICTS laboratory, assist, with laboratory supply ordering, works with other technical staff to maintain laboratory work environment.
Must be able to work off hours and on weekends. Understand universal precautions to prevent exposure to infectious disease, working knowledge sterile techniques, demonstrate working knowledge with calibration of equipment used in clinical trials, knowledge in the appropriate disposal of waste and maintaining a safe work environment and a strong understanding of computers especially Microsoft Office and Freezeworks. Ability to communicate with others and read clinical protocols and document using regulatory platforms. Demonstrated skill in applying laboratory safety measures
AA/BS in Biology or equivalent
