As an Architect within the Cloud Engineering team, you will help reinvent the development, adoption and governance of the NIBR cloud environment, which provides AWS, GCP and Azure services to support the diverse informatics needs of biomedical science. You will have real-world success in designing and delivering AWS solutions at scale and will use your expertise in DevOps, software security, networking technologies, database design to support and empower scientific, and informatics groups.
Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• The design, development and delivery of scalable, reliable and trustworthy AWS solutions • Defining and driving the adoption of cloud services and SDLC standard methodologies at NIBR • Leading and mentoring engineers towards a lean and self-improving organization • Multi-functional leadership, using cloud-native tools when designing scientific informatics workloads • Collaboration with other architecture functions within our enterprise IT organization • Providing engineering mentorship, blueprints and templates to scientific and informatics teams choosing to adopt cloud technologies • Contributing to the migration of applications and data to cloud hosting platforms • Participation in the software engineering activities of our partners and collaborators

What you’ll bring to the role:
• The ability to decompose, analyze and re-architect existing software solutions • Significant and relevant software engineering experience • In-depth expertise in cloud technologies such as ECS, Fargate, EKS, Lambda and message queue technologies • Extensive experience in the design and implementation of cloud solutions • Practical experience designing and implementing decoupled, event driven architectures at scale
• Proficiency in one or more scripting languages and of one or more declarative languages • Certificates in cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, GCP, MS Azure) • Proven leadership experience in the field of AWS software engineering
