The Lab Manager/Researcher will be responsible for preparing technological protocols and reports, assist in data analyses and quality control. He/she will perform routine laboratory work in support of manufacturing nanoparticles and hydrogels. He/she will develop analytical protocols for quality control and run these analyses on regular basis. The position requires participation in administrative duties related to proposed project: formatting and preparation of quarterly and annual reports, management of laboratory supplies and workflow.
This position is requested to support DOD funded project: “Neuro-Immuno Modulating Analgesic (NiMA) Nanomedicine Platform for Treatment of Diabetic Neuropathy”. The budget period extends from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2022.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops analytical protocols for quality control and runs these analyses on regular basis; includes but not limited to NMR, LC-MS, HPLC, etc.
Performs routine laboratory work in support of manufacturing nanoparticles and hydrogels.
Supports graduate and undergraduate students in their research related to the assigned project.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in chemistry or medicinal chemistry (preferred) or a related field.
1 - 3 years of prior laboratory experience.
Alternately, the successful candidate will possess any equivalent combination or training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to the following:
Demonstrated leadership skills in a lab setting and ability to serve as a role model for junior colleagues (graduate and undergraduate students).
Ability to perform synthetic chemistry bench work.
Ability to perform analytical chemistry methods (HPLC, UV/VIS, MS, NMR)
Ability to collect data in analytical studies.
Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University Community.
