The individual will serve as a Clinical Research Trial Administrator for the Hillman Cancer Center. Individual will be responsible for coordinating the front-end fiscal aspects for all clinical trial research conducted at the Hillman Cancer Center. The individual is required to communicate with various areas within UPMC/University of Pittsburgh and clinical research services (CRS) to translate protocols and subsequent protocol amendments into operational documents and make determinations of standard of care vs. research billing for protocol services, as well as inputting protocol schema data into Clinical Trials Management Application (CTMA), and identifying CPT codes associated with research activities for the creation of study budgets.
A Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred; Associate degree plus 3 years of related experience may be substituted; focus in healthcare or healthcare related field is preferred. Oncology and/or research experience strongly preferred. Understanding of various third party, regulatory, compliance and ancillary UPMC committee guidelines. Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are required. Proficiency with computers and database software is required and excellent typing and computer navigation skills are preferred. Time management skills and the ability to work on numerous projects at one time are essential. Attention to detail and self-initiated problem solving is imperative to properly and accurately complete the fiscal process. Strong financial skills coupled with an understanding of the clinical area and the terminology used therein is a must.
Baccalaureate degree preferred however Associates degree with equivalent experience may be considered. Healthcare or healthcare related field is preferred.
