GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: Under limited direction, the Health Occupations Program Director will be responsible for the planning, implementation and oversight of education and training programs and courses for the Health Occupations programs in Kirkwood Community College's Continuing Education Division. The Program Director will be responsible for program development, implementation, instructor recruitment and budgetary oversight of a variety of courses and programs. The Program Director will be responsible for maintaining all institutional, local, state and national compliance and certifications for programs.

Maintain the operation of the program advisory committee and communications with the career field.
Serve as the administrative authority for Iowa Board of Nursing and Iowa Dental Board providerships.
Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Administer and oversee the continuing professional education for nurses and other Allied Health professionals- including assuring regulatory compliance with state, national and credentialing agency requirements.
Assess local and regional education needs in nursing and Allied health education and implement programs to meet the assessed needs.
Maintain Kirkwood Community College's Board of Nursing providership and assure compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines and regulations regarding the delivery of nursing education
Administer and oversee programs and courses including but not limited to the Pharmacy Technician (credit program), Phlebotomy, Medical Billing/Medical Coding, EKG Technician, Ophthalmic Assistant, Central Sterilization Technician, Dental, Medical Office Professional and other programs as appropriate
Create and administer educational offerings, including courses, classes, programs, and conferences in cooperation within the college and with external agencies as appropriate

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
Registered Nurse or higher (BSN, MSN, NP) preferred.
Current Iowa Nursing license.
Two years experience working as a Registered Nurse.
Five years experience in a healthcare setting may be substituted for RN license.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Registered Nurse or higher (BSN, MSN, NP) or five years experience in a healthcare setting.
CPR for the Healthcare Professional (or ability to obtain within six months of employment).
PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Two years experience as a healthcare educator.
Knowledge of current practice and other related health areas required.
At least one year experience in educational setting and familiarity with agencies and boards of agencies preferred.
Five years recent and relevant experience in healthcare or healthcare education (or combination of) may be substituted for Bachelor's degree).
