Summary: Under the direction of the Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives and Institutional Effectiveness, directs the efforts of the Office of Learning Outcomes which is responsible for executing the University’s learning outcomes assessment efforts at the programmatic and institutional levels. The Director of Assessment is responsible for the expansion of the institution's capabilities in adopting best practices in the assessment of learning outcomes and accreditation requirements, including assessment methodology, technical infrastructure, analysis, and reports.
Under the direction of the Vice Provost for Strategic Initiatives and Assessment, directs the efforts of the Office of Professional Learning Review which is responsible for facilitating the evaluation of workplace and professional training.
Education: A Master's degree in an appropriate academic discipline.
Experience: A minimum of two years of college-level teaching and/or administrative experience or equivalence as determined by the appointing authority.
A minimum of four years of experience in the area of higher education assessment, accreditation or equivalence as determined by the appointing authority.
Preferred: Experience with college-level online instruction. Experience leading outcomes assessment efforts and using data in developing and implementing curriculum changes.
• Direct/perform the work of the Office of Learning Outcomes • Direct the work of the Office of Professional Learning Review • Support Academic Schools/Staff in the Academic Program Review Process • Maintain the University’s system of measuring student learning outcomes. • Collaborate with Academic Deans and CLT staff in the development of learning outcomes, processing assessment projects, and utilizing data in support of student learning outcome assessment and accreditation documentation. • Recommend policies and initiatives to enhance learning based on outcome assessment findings. • Chair the University's Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee. • Provides ongoing consultation with University staff regarding appropriate outcomes assessment implementation and administrative infrastructures. • Serve as a member of the General Education Committee • Serve as facilitator and/or liaison to various committees and task forces. • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities: • Ability to work effectively with academic staff in diverse academic disciplines and institutions. • Ability to present effective oral and written reports to diverse constituencies. • Ability to lead cross-divisional projects to achieve results. • Skill in overseeing the implementation of complex administrative processes. • Ability to acquire thorough knowledge of the program or unit purpose, goals and objectives. • Ability to acquire wide knowledge of the University philosophy, goals and organization. • Ability to acquire knowledge of the regulatory and accrediting bodies that have a working relationship with the University and/or program. • Ability to assist in the management of a University program or unit, including setting goals, planning and implementing work programs and developing policies and procedures. • Ability to evaluate program performance and develop alternative methods to improve performance and meet established objectives. • Ability to effectively supervise subordinate staff including developing work operations and performance standards, making performance evaluations and recommending personnel actions. • Ability to develop and recommend program policies. • Ability to prepare and/or direct the preparation of clear reports and studies that include findings and recommendations.
