CM has been building the leadership team and transforming the mission, vision and values over the last year and a half. The Chief Nursing Officer will play an integral role in continuing service of excellence and defining the standards for a robust nursing program within the CM organization.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, The Chief Nursing Officer and Sr. Vice President for Patient Care Services sustains the mission and vision of Children's Mercy by providing strategic and operational direction and leadership for Nursing and the organization. The CNO/SVP impacts both short and long-range strategic plans for Nursing at the executive level and with the Board of Directors. He/She provides effective oversight of patient care practices and standards at Children's Mercy, assuring the human and material resources and activities necessary for high quality patient care and efficient, cost effective operations. The CNO/SVP directs the delivery and integration of services provided patients and families; assuring outcomes meet clinical safety and quality goals, financial stewardship targets, and external benchmarks; and comply with regulatory standards. The CNO/SVP is an innovative leader who challenges clinical leaders to meet customer demands for efficacious services with new, inventive strategies for care delivery; utilizing process improvement and Lean methodology to solve problems, escalate issues, and create highly reliable processes.
Bachelor’s Degree (BSN) Required
Master’s Degree (MHA or MSN or MBA) Required
Doctoral Degree, DNP or PhD is preferred
7 or more years of experience (Evidence of progressive management and leadership experience: Nurse Manager, Specialty Section Manager, Nursing Director, and Senior Nursing Director).
RNs who reside in Kansas must hold a Kansas Multi-State Compact License
RNs who reside in Missouri must hold a Missouri Multi-State Compact License
