Donor Alliance is hiring a Medical Director in Denver! The Medical Director must be dedicated to supporting the mission of Donor Alliance to save lives through organ and tissue donation and transplantation. This position is responsible to provide clinical guidance and oversite to the organ and tissue donation clinical policies and processes. The Medical Director works in concert with the Chief Operating Officer and work system Directors to actively foster an organizational culture that is based on collaboration, performance improvement, and accountability.
Collaborates with work system leadership to provide clinical direction to ensure high quality clinical practices, communications, protocols, and service delivery standards to ensure safety and maximize the gifts of donation to the hospital, transplant centers, and tissue processors.
Creates and fosters positive professional relationships for enhanced collaboration with Donor Alliance staff, customers, partners, and stakeholders. Supports the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the organization.
Oversees the following functions:
Oversees and collaborates on all clinical, allocation, and recovery service activities to ensure clinical practices meet regulatory requirements and maximize all donation opportunities. The Medical Director provides on-call consultation services and works with the work system leaders and/or the Chief Operating Officer to determine organ function and assist with donor management, assess tissue donor medical suitability, and evaluate donor risk.
Customer relationships: In conjunction with Donor Alliance’s work system directors, the Medical Director serves as a resource to the transplant hospitals and tissue processors. The Medical Director promotes communication and collaboration with key customers. As necessary, the Medical Director conducts organ and tissue donation education and training throughout the donation service area.
Policy Oversight: Provides clinical oversite and review of organ and tissue donation policies. Ensure policy compliance with CMS, FDA, UNOS, CDC, CLIA, AOPO and AATB requirements for recovery practices. Completes appropriate clinical chart reviews within established timelines.
Serves as the Chairperson for Donor Alliance’s Advisory Board.
Provides education and training to the clinical staff as needed for Donor Alliance staff, in conjunction with transplant partners, minimum of quarterly basis.
May perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

MD or DO and board certification with current unrestricted license to practice medicine in Colorado and Wyoming preferably with a sub-specialty in organ transplantation or critical care.
Eligible for DEA number/ licensure for Colorado and Wyoming.
Minimum 5 years of experience (post-fellowship) in donor management, critical care medical management, transplant medicine, or transplant surgery.
Requires demonstrated understanding of OPO or transplant center administrative operation.
Proficiency in the use of computer equipment and software, including but not limited to, Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook – Intermediate to Advanced skills) required.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.
Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills required.
