This is a key role responsible for the management and leadership of our Guernsey Trustee/Custodian Team which includes the provision of Depositary 'Lite' services, making a positive and forward looking contribution to the management and growth of these services. As the largest Trustee/Custodian of Guernsey domiciled funds, this is a varied and challenging position requiring proven management skills and a comprehensive knowledge of fund structures and local regulations.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Ensure good corporate governance and compliance with all regulatory requirements i.e. POI/COB Rules.
Develop and maintain effective channels of communications both internally (including board reports and presentations) and externally with clients, the GFSC and industry bodies.
To own outsourced activities and recommend strategies for further leveraging Northern Trust's global operating model.
Commercial wisdom ensuring relationships with clients, internal outsource partners and other relationships are supported with the appropriate documentation, commercials and ongoing oversight processes.
Oversee/co-ordinate and /or undertake due diligence reviews.
Support new business activities including prospective client due diligence visits and oversight of on-boarding activities.
Provide management reporting and participate in internal governance forums.
Lead a team of subject matter experts, responsible for their ongoing development, training and ensuring they are motivated to achieve business objectives and their own personal goals.
Proven track record of managing people effectively.
Industry experience providing designated trustee/custodian services.
Experience of traditional and alternative investments (i.e. Private Equity, Hedge, Property and Debt), outsource arrangements and conducting due diligence visits (Manager, Administrator, Custodian, Outsource Provider) desirable.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Enquiring and forensic mind-set with an analytical approach to investigations and the confidence to challenge individuals and processes as appropriate.
Ability to produce and deliver clear and concise reporting.
Broader knowledge and experience within the financial services industry of custody, administration, trustee or investment management.
Holding or working towards a relevant financial services qualification i.e. ACCA, ICSA, STEP.
