The Division of Economic and Risk Analysis (DERA) provides impartial quantitative and qualitative economic analyses, accurate and reliable data, and insights from scientific research in support of the Commission's mission, including the agency's rule-making, enforcement, and examinations functions.
This senior position will direct DERA's Office of Data Science and Innovation and oversee mission related activities related to financial data, cutting-edge analytics, and modeling across the agency.
Leading and overseeing the development of a complex environment for state-of-the art data analytics within the Commission and the consistent integration of structured data reporting formats and requirements throughout the rule-making process.
Brokering efforts across the enterprise to ensure structured data is incorporated and made available for Commission use.
Building partnerships and collaboration opportunities to address and deliver high quality data analytical tools and services.
Developing a unified vision of data ingestion, analysis, and use.
Overseeing the development of sophisticated artificial intelligence and machine learning tools and technologies to enhance program data quality and information.
Strong, collaborative leader who can capture and synthesize complex data and analytical requirements in order to meet agency needs.
Collaborating with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Data Officer (CDO) to ensure data and analytics are integrated and supported across the Commission.
Addressing the growing demand for expertise in technologies related to structuring data and developing applications and tools to enhance analytics and information sharing.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD: This appointment may require completion of a two year supervisory/managerial probationary period.

Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Time-in-grade for this announcement is one year at the GS/SK-14 level.
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: SO-01: Qualifying experience for the SO-0340-01 level requires experience that demonstrates each of the following four competencies: Customer Service; Oral Communication; Problem Solving; Management Experience; AND 1 year of specialized experience in data management and governance comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the GS/SK-14 level.
In addition to the competencies described above, applicant must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS/SK-14 level:
Providing leadership and policy direction in optimizing an organization's ingestion, normalization, and use of structured data, and
Leading large, multi-year, customer-focused data intensive analytic projects and processes.
