Our client is a leading mid-market UK investment bank with approximately 150 retained clients The corporate team is organised by both sector and product (Corporate Broking, ECM, M&A, DCM and PCM) teams. Sector teams provide day-to-day corporate broking and ECM advice to clients and interact with product teams where specialist expertise is applicable.
The M&A team provides specialist knowledge, expertise and technical capability to all critical M&A transactions undertaken by the organisation and has established a scale presence in the mid-cap public M&A space.
Our client is looking for an exceptional Associate Director to join the M&A team to help to accelerate its growth ambitions, taking proactive responsibility for key workstreams within the team and a central hands-on role in executing transactions.
Managing the execution of M&A transactions, including takeovers, acquisitions, divestitures and other related activities.
Pitching specific M&A ideas to clients and supporting the firm's overall relationship with UK companies.
Reviewing and preparing financial and valuation models in relation to potential transactions.
Drafting and providing input to relevant transaction documents.
Taking responsibility for key internal M&A processes.
Taking a significant role in the training and development of junior team members.
Having an understanding of the regulatory environment, and values and abilities consistent with the FCA conduct rules.
Managing basic processes under the Takeover Code
Key capabilities and knowledge:
The best candidate will have good experience in public company M&A transactions, strong project management skills, good communication and team skills and a strongly analytical mindset.
The Associate Director will have the following attributes:
A minimum of a 2.1 degree or equivalent from a top university
5+ years' M&A experience from an investment bank, boutique or accountancy firm
A keen interest in UK Capital Markets and M&A transactions
Strong numerical, analytical and project management skills
Demonstrable drive and determination – a self-starter
Competitive nature, demonstrable high achiever
Strong work ethic
Strong inter-personal skills to work in/ across multidisciplinary teams and departments as well as with other professional advisers, clients and regulators.
