Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks a Director for Dental Hygiene (DHYG) whose primary duty is to provide planning and management for the support of the Dental Hygiene Program with authority and responsibility for the development of the Program and operation of DHYG Clinic. The Director for DHYG works effectively with faculty, staff, students, administration, patients and the public, and state and national agencies regarding the operation of the Dental Hygiene Program. The Director for Dental Hygiene reports to the Dean of Health Sciences.

Provide leadership and vision as the Director for DHYG and input as a member of the Health Sciences Division sufficient to fulfill the College's Mission and to sustain Dental Hygiene Program excellence;
Develop and recommend overall objectives, plans and procedures for the DHYG Program and Clinic, as well as oversight of the instructional and clinical facility;
Provide leadership to maintain Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accreditation; ensure compliance with all CODA requirements for program approval;
Prepare preliminary budget for the DHYG Program and Clinic, including faculty and staff input, and propose budget to Dean for Health Sciences, regulate and approve program expenditures through budget management, and use College processes to appropriately procure needed supplies, materials and equipment;
Solicit funds and/or equipment from resources outside the department and/or the College as needed utilizing CBC policies and procedures;
Assume a major role in the recruitment, selection, supervision and evaluation of all full and part-time faculty and staff, in accordance with college policies, procedures and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including tenure review, performance evaluation and disciplinary matters as appropriate;
Plan and recommend quarterly workload assignments and clinical rotations within established parameters;
Assist and encourage professional development and any needed regulatory training for individual faculty members;
Assess the professional development needs for department and work in support of those needs through college or other offerings and in-service;
Work closely with program faculty in the formation, development, evaluation, revision of courses, and overall development of curriculum within the DHYG Program, prepare appropriate materials for presentation to the curriculum committee and present proposed changes to the committee with appropriate program faculty;
Coordination, evaluation and participation in determining admission criteria and procedures, as well as student promotion and retention criteria;
Assist with or conduct program recruitment through information sessions, prepare admissions materials, conduct annual application process and materials that meet the requirements of the accrediting agency, review applications with program faculty to determine eligibility;
Advise students in the DHYG Program;
Meet with students, staff and faculty members, other departments or Dean for Health Sciences as appropriate to discuss issues impacting the progress of enrolled students;
Maintain quality assurance, safety standards, and other compliance requirement and prepare for on-site reviews by the accrediting agency;
Prepare quarterly and/or annual reports and extensive self-study reports;
Establish and maintain working relationships with staff from college departments, programs and the Student Services division;
Establish and maintain contact with appropriate agencies and organizations related to the DHYG Program;
Maintain communication with clinical agencies regarding policies and procedures that affect the DHYG Program and clinic operations;
Recruit and maintain members of the DHYG Advisory Committee from the community, coordinate minimum number of required meetings per year and additional as needed, and follow through with applicable reporting;
Serve as the CBC representative to relevant community partner associations;
Serve on college committees as appropriate;
Review the college catalog on an annual basis with regard to program curricula and make appropriate changes;
Work with CBC Library and Dean for Health Sciences to ensure dental hygiene materials are current;
Ensure DHYG website pages, faculty handbook, student handbook, applicable policies and procedures, and any promotional or public relations materials are accurate, current or updated as needed and reissued appropriately; and
Other duties as assigned.
Master's degree in Dental Hygiene, Public Health or Higher Education from a regionally accredited college or university;
Currently enrolled in a Master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited college or university;
A dental hygienist who is a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation;
Current license to practice as a Dental Hygienist in Washington or eligible for licensure in the State of Washington; and
Five (5) years of clinical practice as a dental hygienist.
Columbia Basin College (CBC) serves the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties in Washington state with two-year associate degrees for transfer to a four-year university, and applied degrees for workforce employment. CBC also provides one-year certificates and basic skills for those pursuing a GED or high school diploma.
