The Department of Radiology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC is seeking faculty candidates for a Tenure Associate Professor position.
The Department is comprised of 73 faculty, 21 fellows, and 41 residents. We have both accredited residency and fellowship programs. We are located on the Keck School of Medicine campus in Downtown Los Angeles. Our hospitals include Los Angeles County Medical Center, Keck Medical Center of USC, Verdugo Hills Hospital and Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. Outpatient sites include a full-service outpatient imaging and PET/CT center. All sites are within walking distance. Each is different in character, serving distinct patient populations but treating a wide variety of disease process. We have some of the most advanced imaging facilities for state-of-the-art imaging and operate an active molecular imaging facility. We also have a radiomics and 4D Quantitative Imaging labs available for quantitative image analysis and scientific research collaborations. Department also has additional research infrastructure in form of clinical research support group which consists of, but not limited to, research administrators, regulatory managers, research coordinators, research assistants, biostatisticians, and post docs.
Duties will include the following:
Â Teaching - (medical students, residents and fellows, and Viterbi School of Engineering students) basic physics of biomedical imaging as part of the Introduction to Clinical Medicine (ICM) course.
Clinical/Translational Research: Â Will serve as the Director of MR Imaging Research Program and set up collaborations with multi-institutional and cross departmental faculty developing research projects and programs related to MR Physics.Â The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of researchers with research interests focused in the development and clinical translation of novel MR technology. This candidate will lead a team to conduct multiple research projects in collaboration with radiologists, clinicians, and basic scientists. Will pursue extramural grant support from federal or non-federal sources.
Â Will lead the efforts towards the goal of establishing a comprehensive imaging research center focusing on both research and education at Radiology of USC. Â He/She particularly work on
Â i) Build relationship with MR vendors and particularly focus on establishing strategic partnership Â ii)Â Train students, postdoc, and junior faculty. Â iii)Â Seek the opportunity of applying for NIH grants such as T32 and S10 for expanding the research program. Â iv) Organize imaging research seminars on a regular basis. Â Â v) Take the lead in recruiting high-productivity imaging scientists in the years to come.
This candidate will also oversee following clinical aspects related to MR systems
i) MR system operation and maintenance. MR imaging protocol setup and optimization. Oversee image acquisition training for techs on new protocols, proivide MR safety training for non-technologist users. Additionally, also support software/hardware upgrade and new system/package purchase. He/She will also play a role with completing ACR accreditation application, renewal, and phantom scans
A PH.D in physics, biomedical or electrical engineering or a related field is required. The candidate should have first hand experience in MR Physics. Proven experience in conducting cutting edge research and development with successful outcome
Strong publication record in peer-reviewed conferences and journals is desired
Demonstrated communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Ability to develop practical solutions to challenging problems.
Presentation Skills: Ability to clearly communicate problems and potential resolutions, using visual tools to support the communication
Communication: Fluent in English
