We are seeking a Director, Patient Relations to help co-lead our Patient Relations Division and manage our Patient Representative Department and staff. Patient Representatives listen objectively, upholding patients rights with a concentration on effective grievance processing, risk mitigation and conflict mediation.
As the Director, Patient Relations, you will:
Develop, direct and coordinate the functions and activities in the Division of Patient Relations to ensure the provision of an effective, centralized patient/family grievance mechanism.
Direct the activities of Patient Representative staff.
Engage clinical staff members, administrators, and legal counsel to resolve issues identified by Patient Representatives.
Act as the Center's primary proponent of, and resource on, the patients' bill of rights and advance directives.
Participate on various institutional committees, providing a patient-focused perspective.
Develop and manage departmental budgets.
Capable of anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.
A good decision-maker, with proven success at making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
Able to hold yourself and others accountable in order to achieve goals and live up to commitments.
Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.
Eager to foster talent and support people in meeting their career goals and the organization's goals.
A Masters degree in Health Advocacy or related field preferred, including a minimum of 5 years of managerial/leadership experience and extensive negotiation/confliction resolution/mediation experience (MSW or RN welcomed).
Broad based knowledge of health care systems, regulatory policies, risk mitigation, and understanding of human behavior a plus.
Knowledge of Federal & State regulations impacting patients rights.
Excellent judgment and analytical thinking.
Strong communication and organizations skills.
Excellent management/supervisory skills are essential.
Advanced knowledge of related standards of JCAHO, NYSDOH, and HCFA.
