Post-doctoral position available for individual interested in signal transduction, transcriptional regulation, and metabolism. Experience in RNA sequencing, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and in bioinformatics helpful. Candidate should enjoy working independently in a collaborative setting. Interest in metabolic physiology desirable; we have state of the art facilities to study the role of the CREB pathway in different metabolic states. Our lab also employs genetics to gain insight into the role of the CREB pathway in glucose and lipid metabolism as well as in the development of insulin resistance and type II diabetes. We use biochemical approaches to characterize regulatory components of the CREB pathway and to identify cellular CREB target genes that contribute to the underlying physiology. Mice with knockouts of CREB and CRTC family members in different tissues are employed to identify biological contexts in which this pathway is activated.
