The University of Missouri System Strategic Plan identifies five priorities for the system and it's four universities: Student success, research/creative works, engagement/ outreach, diversity/inclusion and effectiveness/efficiency. The UM System Office of Engagement and Outreach was established in 2018 to provide leadership and coordination to the engagement/outreach mission of the system and the respective universities. Each of the four universities has one or more leadership positions dedicated to engagement on that specific campus. Engagement efforts cover a range of interactions involving students, faculty and other stakeholders that lead to impact in the state's communities with a primary focus on economic opportunity, educational excellence and health/well-being.
The UM Office of Engagement and Outreach seeks a highly motivated fundraiser to - lead efforts in securing private, non-profit and public resources to grow and sustain engagement and outreach efforts of the UM system and the four universities. The officer will be expected to focus on grants, contracts, philanthropy and partnerships that will strengthen, secure and sustain the engagement and outreach efforts of the System in collaboration and partnership with the engagement leaders and development officers on each campus. Critical areas of focus will include, but not be limited to:
Developing and executing a fundraising strategy for UM Engagement and Outreach that will result in financial resources for sustained engagement/outreach efforts at the system and all four universities in the years leading up to and beyond 2023.
Partnering with and supporting advancement leaders at each UM system institution to:
Grow and sustain Big Idea system-wide initiatives like, but not limited to, broadband, community health engagement (NextGen), economic development through advanced manufacturing, science communication and community leadership development.
Promote engagement as part of the advancement culture to increase sustainability and growth.
Increase resources that support engagement goals at each institution.
Increase resources dedicated to faculty and staff engagement including, but not limited to partial and full support for endowed positions and signature programs such as the Des Lee Collaborative at UMSL.
Partner with MU Extension and Engagement Advancement to increase resources that integrate System engagement initiatives at the local community level through the MU Extension network.
Facilitating philanthropy support for UM System Engagement Week.
Supporting relationship development with key UM System and University affinity groups (i.e., Missouri 100, Friends of the President, UM Retirees, etc.).
Salary Range: $62,000 - $100,000
GGS Grade: 12

M-F 8am-5pm with some travel and irregular working hours. Some weekend responsibilities may be required.
A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
* A four-year degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired is necessary. * 5 years fundraising experience, alumni/volunteer relations or public relations; or equivalent transferable skills showing an understanding of the development model, i.e. pursuing and cultivating donors, customers, or business relationships. * Higher education fundraising experience will be prioritized. * Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals. * Outstanding collaboration as a member of a team and ability to work independently and with many diverse constituencies should be evident. * Strong organizational skills are required, exemplary interpersonal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to favorably affect sophisticated volunteers and donors. * Other important characteristics include a strong work ethic, personal integrity, emotional intelligence, strategic thinking and planning skills, and a commitment to the mission and values of the University of Missouri.
