This Per Diem Central Processing Tech I will be responsible for:
Following departmental policies/procedures, and transporting carts of instrumentation or medical materials to and from designated areas within the surgical suites or CPD. Restocking OR surgical core with surgical instrumentation sterilized in CPD following departmental policies/procedures and instructions.
Receiving, sorting, cleaning and decontaminating soiled reusable instruments, equipment and materials following manufacturer's instructions. Manually recording items/materials received in department logs. Loading, operating, and emptying cleaning and decontamination equipment such as automatic washers, endoscope reprocessors, cart washer and pasteurizers.
Inspecting, preparing and sterilizing surgical instruments and other materials. Assembling trays and packets of instruments, medical supplies for surgical procedures according to standardized content lists and manufacturers guidelines. Loading and operating sterilizers, programming settings and monitoring temperature and other critical readings during run cycle.
Answering departmental telephones and forwarding calls as needed. Responding to requests for routine factual information, referring more complex inquiries to charge person/supervisor.
To qualify, you must have:
A high school diploma.
Strong knowledge of instrumentation and power surgical instruments as well as strong computer and problem solving skills.
Strong customer service, strong communication skills.
The ability to work both independently and as a team player.
The ability to be flexible; and willing and able to change assignments due to needs of department.
Demonstrated basic record keeping skill, along with the ability to read and write legibly.
