Under the direction of the Supervisor of Information Technology, the System Administrator manages in-house server/computer software systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. Position also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Serve as the lead technician for systems cyber security.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform and maintain documentation of LREMC IT systems to include mapping, standard operating procedures and change management principles.
Directs/performs the installation, monitoring, updating, technical refresh and retirement of hardware/software relating to network, virtualization, servers, end user devices, security/surveillance systems, radio and other information technology capabilities.
Contribute to the department help desk management system and process
Integrate industry partner technologies and configurations within the LREMC environment
Contribute to proactive monitoring and performance tuning for corporate network infrastructure and servers
Perform and assist in the administration, support, enhancement and maintenance of enterprise level systems and applications to include license management
Design, implement and administer VMWare environment
Perform and assist in Active Directory and Group Policy configuration
Design, implement, and administer a storage area network
Contribute to advanced routing and network security principles
Perform and contribute to security assessments on software, hardware and/or third party agreements
Perform and assist in software and network security plans, processes and incident response action plans
Administer software patch management through planning and deliberate implementation
Contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning Research, procure, configure and implement authorized hardware and software solutions
Render prompt, efficient and reliable technology services that promote good will between LREMC and the members
Contribute to corporate technology initiatives and budget planning
Comply with established safety and/or operating rules, procedures, and guidelines; ensure safety compliance within Information Technology (IT) department; promote a proactive safety culture
Perform other duties assigned in order to fulfill the objectives of the Cooperative
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
B.S. Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems or equivalent preferred. Directly related experience may be substituted at a rate of two years’ experience for one year of education.
Various certifications in IT Fundamentals, A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+, Server+, Cloud+ and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) are strongly preferred.
Knowledge of Cisco, ITIL principles, VMware Infrastructure environments, SNMP, DNS, Microsoft IIS, Apache, Apache2 web servers, PureStorage storage solutions are a plus.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Must maintain confidentiality of Cooperative information on a continuing basis.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver license.
75% Normal Office working conditions 25% travel and outdoor work to support field devices at Substations, Tower Sites and fiber distribution facilities.
Occasionally duties may be performed outside with exposure to weather.
On an average day, there will be standing 30% of the time, walking 30% of the time, and sitting 40% of the time.
The employee must practice office safety procedures and occasionally wear a hard hat and other assigned PPE.
May be exposed to high pressure situations during network outages with minimal resources.
The activities of this position require the employee to be able to lift 20 pounds and carry it for 100 feet on an occasional basis.
There will be continuous waist level reaching where the employee will be reaching for items around the desk.
The employee will be pushing and pulling on an occasional basis opening file drawers and moving chairs and tables around.
The employee must have good finger dexterity in order to use the phone, computer, and write, use tools, send faxes, all on a continuous basis.
