The UWMC Men's Health Center has an outstanding opportunity for a HEALTH SERVICES MANAGER. The Health Services Manager will be responsible for the overall administrative management of the UWMC Men’s Health Center and Endocrinology Clinic through operationalizing the medical center’s values, mission and goals. The Men’s Health Center emphasizes urologic, sexual and reproductive care involving a wide range of conditions. Our physicians and staff are experienced in advanced medical therapies and minimally invasive procedures. And as part of the UW Medicine health system, we also can connect patients with cardiology, endocrinology and other specialists. The Endocrinology Clinic serves patients with complex medical needs and has an increasing volume of procedure visits as well.
As Health Services Manager, you will hire, supervise, and mentor clinic staff in such a way to create effective teamwork, plans, and implements programs to meet specific patient care needs; work to continually improve clinic operations and efficiency and ensures patient safety. You will prepare, evaluate, and manage financial reports and budget and be accountable for meeting service line goals, specific clinic goals and performance outcomes.
Responsible for interviewing, hiring, performance improvement, and disciplinary process of staff
Provides for and evaluates professional growth and development of clinic staff
Plans and organizes orientation and in-service training; participates in guidance of staff and promotion of educational programs
Leadership & Development
Provides leadership and direction in accordance with organizational goals and objectives
Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs; attends meetings, workshops to enrich personal knowledge, growth and management skills
Works with the medical staff and nursing leadership to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care
Continually works on performance improvement activities within clinic
Coordinates and with the Assistant Nurse Manager/RN3 and supervisor, directs the patient care program to ensure patients’ needs are met and that facility policies are followed in an environment that optimizes patient safety
Performance reflects age specific knowledge in all areas of patient care specific to medical specialty
Monitors patient scheduling, surgical schedules, referrals and clinic capacity issues, and takes necessary action to address problems
Collaborates with medical directors and clinical leads to ensure evidence-based practice appropriate to clinic specialty is integrated into clinic operations
Supervises staff to ensure quality of patient care
Responsible for ensuring adherence to Compliance Program policies, procedures, and standards of conduct
Ensures that documentation meets current standards and policies and is completed for each clinic visit by clinic staff
Ensures that clinic meets regulatory standards (e.g. JCAHO, DOH), including environment of care standards and infection control/high level disinfection
Models customer service standards for staff and practitioners
Monitors and plans customer service initiatives to better meet needs of patients
Develops, justifies, and maintains a fiscal plan/budget for the clinic. Monitors patient revenues, expenses, and operating expenses, and provides appropriate reports to the Director and Medical Director as well as clinic staff and providers
Develops and implements business plans to enhance clinical services
Manages clinic demand and volume to meet budgeted volume projections in collaboration with medical staff leadership
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or other related field
Minimum of 5 years of management/supervisory experience in a medical setting
Equivalent combination of education/experience may substitute for listed required education/experience
Demonstrated leadership experience, working collaboratively with medical leadership and staff
Demonstrated ability to manage the financial performance of the clinic
Demonstrated knowledge of ensuring compliance with billing policies
Demonstrated ability in process improvement to optimize clinic flow and operations
Demonstrated interpersonal skills in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution, and facilities cooperation and collaboration to meet goals
Demonstrated skill in Human Resources management such that staff are productive and function well as a team. Ability to have tough conversations as needed, counsel staff and utilize corrective disciplinary process as needed
Knowledge of The Joint Commission, DOH and other regulatory agency standards
Demonstrated excellence in customer service in daily interactions with patients, family members and medical staff
