Department: Temp Center Salary/Grade: TMP/01 Northwestern University is seeking potential Temporay Research Administrators for future roles on both the Chicago and Evanston campus. This role manages daily operations of a research program. Monitors study performance, reviews results, and supervises development and implementation of new protocols. Provides guidance and training to research staff to ensure compliance with rules and regulations associated with clinical research studies and trials involving human subjects. Reviews technical operations to ensure that all processes meet standards. Specific Responsibilities: Technical - Leads execution & control of a biomedical &/or social science project or research study (regulatory processes)
- Develops new &/or revised research methodologies.
- Ensures completion of study activities per protocol including recruitment.
- Submit new protocols and continuing review proposals
- Monitor study enrollment and accrual
Administration - Oversees & manages collection, maintenance, analysis & evaluation of data that will be used in grant submissions, presentations & publications.
- Ensures that information is entered correctly into databases.
- Assists PI in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, formatting, editing, & preparing tables, charts, graphs, progress & final reports, etc.
- Coordinates between sponsoring agencies, collaborating organizations &/or other research &/or educational institutions.
- Ensures that all study documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols are completed in a timely manner.
Supervision - Trains and supervises research staff, students, residents &/or fellows.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 3 years' research study or other relevant experience required; OR Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as social or health science or related; OR appropriate combination of education and experience and 1 year research study or other relevant experience. Supervisory or project management experience required. Must complete NU's IRB CITI training before interacting with any participants & must re-certify every 3 years Knowledge of human subject research policies and training in biomedical research methodology Preferred Qualifications: Past work history involving working within a complex health, research-based organization. Past experience with IRBs and supporting researchers. Past experience with writing and deciphering information from complex documents/websites. Strong attention to detail. Must have a positive disposition and desire to see problems through completion with minimal supervision. Clear communication skills and ability to communicate to different audiences while bringing simplicity to the complex. Ability to summarize problems, develop solutions that adhere to school, university, hospital, state and federal guidelines and implement solutions. Ability to think creatively to resolve problems. Ability to prioritize. Ability to work with a broad range of constituencies and direct action to superiors, including senior administrators, faculty, fellows and residents. Ability to work efficiently and with multiple tasks with various deadlines. Ability to take initiative for projects. Ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality. Ability to ask for help when needed as well as set parameters/boundaries for department colleagues. The department highly values dependability, confidence, initiative and responsibility.
