Posted Job Title Clinical Research CoordinatorJob Profile Title Clinical Research Coordinator AJob Description Summary This position will support the research and administrative activities of the Penn Program on Precision Medicine for the Brain, directed by Jason Karlawish MD and a team of faculty collaborators and research staff. This group examines the ethical, legal, and social issues related to the aging brain with a particular focus on Alzheimer's disease. Current research focuses on understanding the experiences of individuals with "pre-clinical" Alzheimer's disease and the social and cultural transformations of Alzheimer's disease.This position is contingent upon funding. Job Description The research coordinator will work closely with the Principal Investigators, program manager, and study team to carry out qualitative and mixed methods research. Specific responsibilities will include the following: Data Collection: Recruiting, screening, enrolling, and tracking research participants, ensuring recruitment and data collection goals and timelines are met, ensuring data quality and integrity, and providing the PI and study team with regular updates on progress. Data Management: Collecting, cleaning, and organizing qualitative and quantitative data and working with the study team to code and analyze data according to the study protocols, and tracking analysis progress and ensuring deadlines are met. Regulatory Compliance: Assisting with preparation and maintenance of Institutional Review Board (IRB) and other regulatory documentation to ensure regulatory compliance, and the development of appropriate study-specific documents, tools, and procedures. The research coordinator will also assist in protocol development, grant writing, and planning the research agenda, as well as other duties as assigned.
A Bachelor's Degree in a health related or social science field and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. The qualified candidate will have excellent organizational, time-management and interpersonal skills. A qualified candidate will also have experience with data gathering for qualitative research (i.e., interviewing), as well as knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite -- including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook -- is required. Experience using nVivo, ATLAS.ti or other qualitative data analysis software is preferred but not required. The research coordinator must be detail and accuracy oriented with ability to organize and execute projects consistently and complete tasks independently. The position requires initiative and judgment along with excellent oral and written communication skills. A qualified candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines and priorities. Travel within the Philadelphia area may be required and so a driver's license and access to reliable transportation is preferred. The position may require some flexibility (<2% fte) in work hours in order to occasionally accommodate the schedules of research participants.
