The Mechanical Engineering Program is seeking a faculty member who can teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate level in mechanical engineering, with emphasis in the solid mechanics, dynamics systems, vibrations, & controls area. The ideal candidate will be able to develop externally funded research projects and work effectively with local and regional companies including the National Additive Manufacturing Innovative Institute, America Makes, located in Youngstown. YSU is student centered and, as such, this person must be an effective classroom teacher, a good communicator, and a person who can work effectively with students to achieve their full potential as mechanical engineers. Duties include developing and teaching courses from the sophomore to graduate level in the mechanical engineering program, actively pursuing external funding, student advising, and participation in college, university and community service. This is a tenure-track appointment.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. An undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
All areas of specialty in Mechanical Engineering will be considered, but preference will be given to applicants in the areas dealing with solid mechanics dynamic systems, vibrations, & controls. Industrial experience, competence with computational tools, and experience with laboratory development are highly desirable. Candidate should have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and hands-on laboratory based instruction; dedication to continued professional development and scholarship; and a demonstrated interest in working with students. Professional Engineers license is preferable.
