The Rheumatology Division of the Department of Medicine at UCSF is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time (100% effort) faculty position at UCSF Health. The selected candidate will be appointed at the level of Assistant Professor the Health Sciences (HS) Clinical series or Adjunct series depending on qualifications and interests.
Faculty in the HS Clinical series are salaried appointees in the health sciences who teach, participate in patient care, and may participate in University and/or public service and scholarly and/or creative activities. Faculty in this series teach the application of basic sciences and the mastery of clinical procedures in all are as concerned with the care of patients. Faculty in the Adjunct series are individuals who predominantly engage in research or other creative work and who participate in teaching. Appointees with titles in this series may also engage in University and public service consistent with their assignments.
This position has two principle responsibilities: A) Provide direct patient care ~4 half-days a week (0.5 FTE) in the UCSF Health rheumatology clinic, primarily for patients with rheumatoid arthritis. B) Design, acquire funding, obtain regulatory approval, conduct and analyze data from clinical trials in the UCSF Health Rheumatology Clinical Research Center at the Parnassus Heights Campus (0.5 FTE). The faculty member will supervise and teach residents, fellows and medical students in rheumatology.
Candidates must have a minimum of one (1) year experience post-fellowship in providing clinical rheumatology care, as well as a minimum of one (1) year experience post-fellowship serving as the primary investigator or co-investigator of an interventional clinical trial in either lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. The candidate must have formal training in clinical research methods as well as experience in the design and conduct of interventional clinical trials. Qualified applicants should hold an MD degree. ABIM-certification and clinical training and Rheumatology board certification is required. A demonstrated commitment to education is required.
